I'm afraid of being charged twice

2 min read · Updated on 7/14/2026

The fear of paying twice is common, especially when the screen takes a while to confirm. The good news is that the checkout was built to avoid duplicate charges — a few extra clicks or a status check do not create a new charge.

Protection against the double click

When you confirm the payment, the checkout blocks repeated submissions: if you tap the pay button several times in a row (out of anxiety, or because the screen seemed frozen), only the first submission counts. The following taps are ignored while the payment is being processed. This prevents the same purchase from turning into two charges.

”Confirm Payment” does not create a new charge

On the PIX or boleto screen, the “Confirm Payment” button is only there to check the updated status of your payment. It does not create a new charge and does not generate a new PIX/boleto. You can tap it as many times as you want — at most, you see the notice that the payment is still pending.

Likewise, the “Copy PIX code” button (or “Copy boleto code”) only copies the code for you to paste into your bank app. Copying the code is not paying and does not charge anything.

How to check whether there was a double charge

If you are unsure:

  • On the card, check the invoice or statement in your bank app. Declined purchases are not charged; and a pending authorization that does not turn into a purchase is usually released automatically by the bank.
  • On PIX, check the receipt in your bank app: there is only a debit if you actually confirmed the payment.
  • On boleto, you only pay if you actually pay the boleto at the bank.

What to do if you really do see two charges

  1. Gather the receipts for both charges (date, amount, and identification).
  2. Note the email used for the purchase and the order number shown on the confirmation.
  3. Contact support with these details, so the duplicate can be checked and, if confirmed, resolved.

Keeping the purchase confirmation and the payment receipt makes any later check much easier.
