How to pay in installments with a card
When a product allows installments, the card form shows an Installments field. There you choose how many times you want to split the purchase on your credit card.
Choosing the number of installments
The Installments field is a dropdown list. Each option shows the number of times, the amount of each installment, and whether or not interest applies — for example, “3x of $33.33 interest-free” or “10x of $12.00 with interest”.
Just open the list and tap the option you want. The value of each installment is calculated and displayed automatically based on your choice.
When interest applies
Not every installment plan is the same. In general:
- The first installments are usually interest-free (the label shows “interest-free”).
- From a certain number of installments onward, they start carrying interest (the label shows “with interest”), and the total amount of the purchase goes up a little.
Always check the label next to each option before confirming. The 1x option corresponds to a one-time (full) payment, interest-free.
The number of installments available and whether interest applies depend on the product and on your card. If you do not see the Installments field, that product is set up for one-time card payment only.
How the installment plan appears on the confirmation
Once the card payment is approved, the confirmed-purchase screen shows, in the summary, the payment method with the installment plan you chose — for example, “Credit Card - 3x of $33.33”. This lets you check exactly how the purchase was split.
If you have any doubts about the value of each installment or the billing date, check the statement in your bank or card issuer app.
